More sponsors confirmed for the Wareham Beerex - Easter Weekend

Many thanks to all our wonderful sponsors for their kind support for the Wareham Beerex. We wouldn't be able to do this without you! Over the last couple of days we've had a flurry of companies agreeing to support the Wareham Beerex and the work we do for local charities with the money raised from the Wareham Beerex. By sponsoring the Wareham Beerex you help us raise extra money for local charities that we would otherwise have to make up with a much higher footfall and higher beer prices. So thank you for your kind support and community spirit. Companies like yours make a real difference to the local community. Go and pat yourself on the back and have a beer in the warm fuzzy glow of knowledge that you're helping others.

Beerex - Wareham Round Table's Beer Festival

This Easter, Wareham Round Table hope to run their best Beer Festival (Beerex) yet.
Over the years the format has developed into an excellent event, with an excellent choice of real ales and ciders, which in recent years, thanks to the growing popularity of ciders and perrys has become an interesting alternative for people who haven’t found their taste in real ales yet. The event has grown over the last 17 years from its humble beginnings in the Corn Market, to its current venue at the Masonic Lodge in Howards Lane, Wareham.

There will be at least 25 real ales from all across the country with a wide selection of ciders & perry.
Held over Easter holidays, the festival now covers 3 days – from the opening night of Thursday 21st April through to Saturday 23rd April.
Beerex is Wareham Round Table’s main fundraising event of the year and we help support that by offering the opportunity to local businesses to sponsor various aspects of the Beerex. If you are interested in helping support the Beerex, please contact us!
Over the last year or so, we’ve helped Sandford Cubs, Wareham Hospital & The League Of Friends, Stoborough First School and Wareham in Bloom to name a few. We always welcome approaches from people or organisations that need support in the Purbeck area.
This year, we are especially lucky that it’s the weekend of St George’s day and will be celebrating in style with St George as our central theme. We have entertainment on all three nights and on Saturday lunchtime as well.
Tickets can be bought online at http://www.beerex.org.uk or from our kind supporters, Bullock & Lees in North Street (Wareham). Tickets cost £5 per session.
Wareham Round Table is open for membership to men aged 18-45. It’s not political, it’s not religious, it’s about having fun, doing something good and enjoying yourself! Round Table is an international organisation and exists in over 40 countries. It is about networking and getting to know people you might not otherwise meet! If you feel that there’s an aspect of your life that could benefit from finding out more about Round Table, then give us a call. Have a look at our website for more info: http://www.wareham-roundtable.org.uk

Wareham Round Table help Sandford Cubs with new tents

Four for Sixes - New tents for Sandford Cubs Sixes

1st Sandford Cubs inspect one of their four new tents recently donated to them by Wareham Round Table No.1224, with the help of their leaders and members of Wareham Round Table.
Cub Scout leader Matt Renaut, along with the Cub Scouts thanked members of the Wareham Round Table for their kind donation of four brand new 6 person tents to accomodate the "Sixes" when they go camping.
The tents will be used by Sandford Cubs to introduce 8-10 year-old Cub Scouts to range of activities including regular camps in Lulworth and the surrounding areas.
David Hixson-Ward, Chairman of Wareham Round Table said the Round Table members hope the Cubs stay warm and dry in their impressive new tents and hope that they give years of good service to the Cub Scouts.
Mr Hixson-Ward acknowledged that this donation, like others to local charities and local worthy causes, would not be possible without the support of local businesses and members of the Wareham community and said that part of the thanks should go to these people too. The majority of the fundraising is done through the Wareham Round Table Beer Festival (Beerex) which is held every Easter in Wareham.
If anyone would be interested in finding out more about what Wareham Round Table does, please feel free to contact us via our website www.wareham-roundtable.org.uk.

Wareham Round Table and Wareham Hospital

News Release

New chair makes for easier bath times

16 November 2010

A new state of the art bath chair has been donated to Wareham Hospital thanks to
the fund raising efforts of the local Round Table.

Presented by Round Table Community Services Liaison Officer Anthony Muraro, the
£3500 chair will enable patients with mobility problems to enjoy having a bath.

Anthony Muraro said “Fundraising for local causes is a major part of the Wareham
Round Table’s work and having worked closely with the Wareham Hospital League
of Friends we were delighted to offer funding for the new chair.

Local hospitals play a key role in our communities and we have found that local
people are always happy to offer their support as one day it could be themselves or
a member of their family needing care”.

Rob Ball is Charge Nurse at the hospital. He said “Whilst nobody really wants to go
into hospital, throughout our life many of us will. The support of local people through
the League of Friends complements the excellent care we are able to offer the
community making a person’s stay a more pleasant experience”.

Anyone interested in supporting the work of the League of Friends can obtain more
information from the hospital reception.

Wareham Round Table and Help For Heroes

Wareham Carnival

This coming Friday, I have the pleasure of attending the Wareham Carnival Committee's presentation evening. I have been informed that it should be an interesting evening, where the Wareham Carnival committee will be presenting cheques to local charities from the fundraising events that they've run over the year.
I'm interested to know what they're going to do as I've thought for a while that it's something that WRT should be doing.

Stoborough First School Fete

We had a great time at the Stoborough First School fete.
Wareham Round Table No.1224 have agreed to donate the money for a climbing wall for the School's new activity area in the grounds and were kindly asked by the School to help at their summer fete.
We had our own stand with a "Splat The Rat" game and donated all the proceeds from the game to the PTA. Many thanks to the Tablers that helped out there and many thanks to the School for inviting us
Luckily, through one of our Tablers we managed to get a new shiny banner for the day at very short notice from a sign company near Southampton called Andean Signs (www.andeansigns.co.uk) who were very competitive and delivered the day after we sent them the artwork for the banner.
We'll up load a photo of the onto our Picasa album asap!
Happy Round Tabling!

Charitable Donations by Wareham Round Table

Wow, our Community Service officer, Anthony Muraro has been busy! In the last 3 months, we've donated or agreed to donate a large amount of money that we've raised to local charitable causes.
No.1
Sandford Cub Scouts
We've bought 4, 6 man tents for the cub scouts so they can actually sleep in their Sixes, photograph of the handover duly done and our CSLO is arranging the press release at the moment.

No.2
Wareham Hospital
Our CSLO arranged a tour and demonstration of the Hospital and the special equipment they were trying to raise money for. The new Matron has made massive positive changes to the hospital and was trying to raise money for a specially designed bath chair that to be quite honest is fantastic! It's a powered chair that enables patients with movement problems to be able to be showered in comfort. We'd decided to give them the money for the chair by the end of the visit as it will make a massive difference to the patients quality of life.

No.3
Play equipment for Stoborough First School
Another item that Anthony raised was the need for new play equipment for the children at Stoborough First School. The specific item of equipment was a climbing frame for the grounds. We've been invited to the school fête this weekend as guests of the PTA for this donation and if you've every experienced the school fête at Stoborough then you'll know it's a fantastic event with a spectacular Hog Roast and entertainment in the evening.

We're going to use the school fête as a bit of a recruiting ground as even in a small Town like Wareham, people do not know what Round Table is all about. They all come along to the beer festival we hold every Easter, which under current form is going from strength to strength. But there is a distinct lack of identity within the town. Ok, we don't go and stand on street corners, shaking buckets, because we don't do that. Maybe we should?
